This hits the nail on the head!

I heard this poem in Bible Study today. I didn't write it but it expresses exactly how I feel.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'.
I'm whispering"I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow.

Typical Brooke Behavior

I was quietly working on my blog and Brooke was watching TV in the den. She looks so cute and innocent doesn't she?
I hear a rustling going on for several minutes but it takes a few minutes for my mind to identify that Brooke has probably gotten in to something. Cornmeal to be exact - she is a Southern girl after all!
Here is what the sofa looked like...
and here is what she looked like after I took away the cornmeal. She pitched quite a fit!!
I don't think that she wanted her picture taken. Do you?
Oh, the joys of motherhood! The incident did actually get me to vacuum under the cushions of the sofa! I figured if I was vacuuming the top...

Pics of family

The first picture is of my mom with the grandkids on our bi-annual beach trip. Pic #2 is Thanksgiving 2006 at my brother's house. Pic#3 is of my sweet girls, Brantley & Brooke. Pic#4 is Wolfe dancing on the giant piano at FAO Schwartz in NYC. Pic#5 is of Wolfe and Brantley watching people ice skate in Bryant Park NYC. Pic #6 is of kids with my in-laws, Mimi and Granddaddy. Just a little peek into what our family looks like. I have realized that there aren't enough photos of Jeremy and I. Need to take some!

First Blog Post

Children and I went to Roots Country Market today. I just love the contact with those who grew the food I am buying. Bought some delicious "summer crisp" apples - Wolfe and I's favorite. Am always amazed at the selection of produce, meats, and cheeses that are available there. There is nothing like this in the deep South. I don't know if there is even 1 butcher in Birmingham (where we used to live). At Roots alone there are, let's see...9! You can buy anything from rabbit, duck, many varieties of turkey sausage, beef, dried beef, scrapple, etc... I bought ground turkey and beef short ribs.

Brooke (my almost 2 yr old) has been a doll today. She has insisted on wearing her pink cardigan with the hood up all day. She even took a nap with it on and the hood on her head! She just walked in the room( with the cardigan and hood) holding a stick to a lollipop in one hand and the whole lollipop shoved in her mouth and in the other hand a bag of "runts" candy. She can find anything and will consume it! Here is a pic of sweet Brooke.
